Futuristic Interactive Technology (FIT) Competence Centre Opening


10th anniversary edition of Tech Turku Week has a bonus day: we celebrate the opening of Futuristic Interactive Technologies (FIT) Turku Competence Centre. FIT is a joint innovation environment for public and private sector to develop XR related solutions and services, equipped with the latest technologies. The lab is going to be a playground for tryouts, research and development. Join to explore the student projects and see how your organization can utilize the new world of interactive technologies!

We will also have a virtual fair space open for the occasion, where you can explore the exhibition of Augumenta, MeKiwi, Kudos, Ade, Adesante, Kiwa, Market Entry Partner and Turku University of Applied Sciences.

Research Group Leader, Turku University of Applied Sciences

Dr. Mika Luimula works as a Research Group Leader of Futuristic Interactive Technologies and as a Head of FIT Turku Competence Center for Turku University of Applied Sciences. He also holds an Adjunct Professorship at the University of Turku and is a Senior Advisor to the Board of Ade Ltd. His research group has won various awards especially in the field of virtual safety training.

Prof. Dr. Fahmi Bellalouna
Karlsruhe UAS

Prof. Fahmi Bellalouna obtained his PhD degree in computer integrated mechanical engineering from the Ruhr University Bochum. He worked for automotive manufacturer Daimler AG in the area of the digital product design for more than 10 years. In 2015 he was appointed as a Professor for digitization in the
product lifecycle at University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe and he is director of the xR-Lab at the
faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics at the University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Evangelos Markopoulos is an expert, entrepreneur and scholar on Process and Project Management, Enterprise Engineering, Knowledge Management and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. As a Computer Scientist he worked mainly in the USA and at ΙΒΜ, at Siemens and at Bell Laboratories of AT&T.

Hans-Christoph Burmeister is heading the Department ‘Sea Traffic and Nautical Solutions’ at Fraunhofer-Center for Maritime Logistics and Services CML in Hamburg, Germany. He coordinated the internationally known European research project MUNIN on unmanned vessels and currently active in the German project FernSAMS developing a remote and autonomous controlled tug.

Jari started his career as a Marine Engineer in Wartsila. During his 24 years stay in Wartsila, Jari was engaged in corporate-wide projects; this included selecting and implementing e-learning platforms, developing the corporate's Learning Management System, and establishing Wartsila Land and Sea Academy's global network of training centers.

In 2013, Jari left Wartsila to establish GigaMare Inc. Today, GigaMare conducts training on more than 25 000 course-man-days annually for various customer segments.

Inkeroinen's true passion is learning about technology that makes our lives easier and more comfortable. He has gained experiences in AR and VR development during his studies at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Currently he works on AR and VR development at Zoan, a virtual reality studio, that has a strong focus on creating virtual worlds and simulated realities for education, travel and marketing.
